Sorry to have posted a poem like that one without my thoughts. So I am writing a formalist analysis of this poem and have read it 1,000 times...no joke. It is a very complicated poem with many possible interpretation. In this poem what she says is crucial and what she doesn't say is enlightening.
Believe it or not, i actually like the poem now. Maybe I started liking it after the 150th time that i read it and finally got something from it.
With that i will say good luck to you all and tell me what ya'll think!
it took me 3 times to read it to discover the meaning i wanted from it.

as the rock man says 'you see what you want to see and you hear what you want to hear, you ever seen a pterodactyl?'
maybe that is why i usually hate poetry. cause i never saw what my teachers did.
perhaps my interpretation is elementary but i think that miss emily is comparing her life with a loaded gun. she is waiting for life to happen she is ready but lacks the knowledge to pull the trigger. when along comes her 'owner' (lover, husband, what have you)and carries her away. her life is then happy as she is now living it. she loves and protects her masters head whether at night or at the dusk of life she will always be there to love and protect. enemies of her man should beware cause she will getcha. and lastly, she could not bare to live without him.
so yeah, i liked it. and i love the snippets of insight without the huge long wordy explanations.
i am interested to see what others have to say, yourself included.
